Unfortunately there is currently no known cure for dry AMD. However there is growing evidence, from the Waterford Institute, to suggest that boosting the macular pigment with the three macular carotenoids, Meso-Zeaxanthin, Lutein and Zeaxanthin, could be of particular benefit to those suffering with the condition.

NHS Treatment

The NHS treatment currently available for wet AMD is with a group of medications called anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) drugs. The medicine is injected in to the vitreous, gel-like substance within the eye and works by inhibiting the growth of new blood vessels and preventing further damage to the macula.
